Hi Chris,

I would invite you to take a look at our .NET protection tool, a tool that goes beyond mere obfuscation. Maxtocode (http://www.maxtocode/). Thank you.

Or you could use Postgresql maybe? A few years ago I investigated Postgresql after finding that MySQL was silently truncating over-long text fields rather than raising an error. I liked what I saw (I have an Oracle background) and I've used Postgresql ever since, very happily.

You might also want to look at Xenocode, {smartassembly}, and perhaps even .NET Reactor.

It has been my experience that few companies are ever really happy with their outsourcing solutions.

Rumor has it that there is a lone company out there which fully documents their specifications to such a fine level of detail that they just email it to India and it comes back better, faster and cheaper.

However, the for the rest of the companies, the communication lag and the lack of business understanding makes even simple tasks like web page creation become cumbersome.

Does Lou "Mr. Outsourcing America" Dobbs of CNNfn know about this? Oh yeah, let us not forget that old boy Lou quit his job at CNN back in the 1990s because he thought the swagger to join a "dot com" when "dot com" was in vogue. When Space.com didn't make Mr. Dobbs a multi millionaire, he went back to CNN with his tail between his legs asking for his old job back again. Now all he does is create cacophony as he incessantly sensationalizes topics such as outsourcing (if he doesn't sensationalize then he will once again be out of a job). 'nuff said!

Hey Chris,

How goes it and what's new?

I've got my Thinkpad X41 Tablet running Ubuntu "Edgy" 6.10 -- so far its quite stable (all the apps I need run fine including the Eclipse SDK which seems to be progressing well the past five years). Its hard to beat the bash shell and not having to worry about Windows viruses (but that might change with Vista now, true?).

Not sure how much .NET dependency you have but I would now take a close look at Ubuntu Edgy (was released just about one month ago). You can download and burn the Live CD ISO to give it a whirl without installing it onto your laptop's drive.

Cheers from Shanghai.
